Juan Cruz Benito, the predoc researcher from the GRIAL Research Group, has obtained the Ph.D. degree with “Cum Laude” qualification with his thesis entitled “On data-driven systems analyzing, supporting and enhancing users’ interaction and experience”.
The research carried out focuses on how to take advantage of using data-driven architectures, Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD) and Artificial Intelligence to improve Human-Computer-Interaction-related (HCI) processes. During the thesis, Juan has investigated how to enhance users’ experience, support users’ interaction with new digital systems and extract insights about users’ engagement based on data and analytical pieces of evidence. To thesis has been developed using four different research scenarios linked to different GRIAL’s research projects, like the Spanish Observatory for Employability and Employment (OEEU), the iMOOC and other MOOCs-related research experiences, as well as other research collaborations with IBM Research USA and the Usalpharma teaching innovation group.
Juan Cruz Benito, el investigador predoctoral del Grupo de Investigación GRIAL ha obtenido el grado de Doctor con calificación “Cum Laude” con su tesis titulada “On data-driven systems analyzing, supporting and enhancing users’ interaction and experience”.
La investigación llevada a cabo se centra en cómo aprovechar las arquitecturas software basadas en datos, el Descubrimiento de Conocimiento en Bases de Datos (KDD en inglés) y la Inteligencia Artificial para mejorar procesos relacionados con la Interacción Persona-Ordenador (IPO, HCI en inglés). Durante su tesis, Juan ha investigado cómo mejorar la experiencia de usuario, soportar la interacción de los usuarios con nuevos sistemas digitales o extraer evidencias de _engagement_ en base a los datos y evidencias analíticas que se pueden recoger en un sistema digital. Esta tesis se ha desarrollado en cuatro entornos relacionados con diferentes proyectos de investigación del Grupo GRIAL, como el Observatorio de Empleabilidad y Empleo Universitarios (OEEU) o las experiencias con MOOCs y la plataforma iMOOC, y con colaboraciones de investigación realizadas con IBM Research (EEUU) o el grupo de innovación docente Usalpharma.
